Biography

Facundo Argañaraz joined the Department in September 2025 as an Assistant Professor (tenure track), just after defending his doctoral dissertation at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (uc3m). During the final year of his PhD, he was a visiting fellow at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

He is an econometrician. His research interests span identification, estimation, and inference of semiparametric models. He is especially interested in causal inference using machine learning.

An excellent undergraduate student at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in Argentina - he was the recipient of the 2018 Academia Nacional de Ciencas Económicas (Argentina) Award as the best undergraduate student of the School of Economics - he pursued excellence at the graduate level, laureate of uc3m's Special Prize awarded to the student with the highest GPA of the Master in Economic Analysis.

He holds a PhD in Economics (Cum laude) from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid as well as a Master’s Degree in Economic Analysis.
