Management, principles and organisms

The principles of collegiality and elective responsibility are at the heart of the department's constitution and functioning. These two principles are intended to strengthen our academic community, its collective functioning, and accountability to peers.

The elected management team is composed as follows :

  • A director, Kevin Mellet, who coordinates the department's activities. He is the main representative of the discipline to the Sciences Po administration.
  • Two advisors for undergraduate courses ("Référents Collège"): Jean-Samuel Beuscart and Mélusine Boon-Falleur, who coordinate the curriculum at the undergraduate level, working closely with the Dean, Jeanne Lazarus, and the directors of the various Sciences Po campuses.
  • Jérôme Pélisse is the Head of doctoral studies in Sociology. He represents the discipline at the School of Research.

Two main bodies structure the life of the department :

  • The Bureau, led by the director, coordinates the department's activities and prepares general meetings. It currently consists of Kevin Mellet, Jean-Samuel Beuscart, Mélusine Boon-Falleur, Jérôme Pélisse, Carlo Barone, Sophie Dubuisson-Quellier (Director of CSO), Achim Edelmann (Representative of the médialab), and Federico Varese (Representative of the CEE).
  • A General Assembly that regularly brings together all permanent members of the sociology department. It is a forum for discussion and decision- making concerning the general educational principles and orientations of our discipline.
