Research Centers
Sociology research at Sciences Po is conducted in several research centers.
It is the main discipline in three of them :
- The Center for the Sociology of Organizations (CSO), which develops original thinking on private and public, market and non-market regulations based on research focusing on organizations, markets, and professional groups.
- The Center for Research on Social Inequalities (CRIS), which conducts interdisciplinary research on social stratification and inequalities with the aim of measuring and comparing the mechanisms and evolution of inequalities in contemporary societies on several scales, contributing to
the analysis of public policies. A variety of areas are covered, such as gender, origin, social background, education, the role of the state and social policies, cultural practices, digital uses, and the environment. - Médialab. An interdisciplinary research laboratory bringing together sociologists, engineers, and designers, médialab conducts thematic and methodological research that exploits and questions the place of digital technology in our societies.
It is the secondary discipline in two of them :
- The Center for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE), whose scientific project is based on a multidisciplinary approach to politics. Its main areas of research are structured around three cross-cutting themes:
understanding European integration and its impact, understanding the relationship between policy and politics, and investing in methodological
issues. - The Centre for International Studies (CERI), which facilitates dialogue between various disciplinary approaches such as the sociology of politics, anthropology, history, political economy, international relations, and political philosophy. The empirical foundation of research conducted at
CERI, combined with linguistic and fieldwork expertise, aims to contribute to conceptual debates in the social sciences. The center’s work is rooted in a comparative tradition and values the historical trajectories of the
societies it studies.
