Emilien Fargues
Dr. Émilien Fargues earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Sciences Po in 2019. His research focuses on migration and citizenship policies.
Using a comparative and interdisciplinary approach that combines public policy analysis and the sociology of law, his work examines the representations of the 'national community' that underlie the implementation of citizenship acquisition and citizenship revocation policies.
Émilien Fargues has held various positions as a temporary lecturer in France (attaché temporaire d’enseignement et de recherche, ATER), first at the University of Lille and then at Sciences Po. He has also received several grants, including the Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellowship at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence.
As a recipient of the new 'Access ERC' program launched by the French National Research Agency (ANR), Émilien Fargues is working as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin since September 2023. His current research project focuses on the experiences and perceptions of citizenship law among immigrants originating from former colonial territories within the former European metropoles.
