Given current public health regulations and restrictions on international travel that may prevent some students from attending the programme in person, the Summer School will be offering a selection of courses online in June and July in order to allow participants from all over the world to study at Sciences Po this summer.
The Summer School will also be offering a selection of courses on campus for the July session of the University Programme for students who are able to travel to Paris this summer. The number of students present on campus will be limited in accordance with social distancing and public health measures, allowing us to ensure a safe learning experience for all students.
STUDY SOCIAL SCIENCES, FRENCH LANGUAGE, OR BOTH
Participants in the Summer School’s University Programme can:
study Sciences Po’s key disciplines, such as international relations, political science, or economics, in the social sciences track,
immerse themselves in intensive language courses in the French language track,
combine both subjects through their choice of core and elective courses.
The social sciences track will be offered entirely online for the June session. For the July session, students have the choice to take a social sciences course online or on campus in Paris.
Given that full immersion in French language and culture is an integral part of the academic experience at the Sciences Po Summer School, the French language track will be offered exclusively on campus in Paris during the July session.
Students participating in the July on-campus session can choose to take an optional elective course. These elective courses allow participants to explore a new topic, go deeper into a subject of interest or combine the study of social sciences and French language.
STUDY IN THE HEART OF PARIS or online, anywhere in the world
Outside the classroom, participants in the July on-campus session will be immersed in French language and culture through daily life in Paris. From Sciences Po’s campus in the historic Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighbourhood, students can easily reach some of Paris’ most famous landmarks on foot. The Summer School offers a variety of cultural visits and activities to give students the chance to discover the city of Paris, as well as French history and culture. Housing options allow students to live together in typical Parisian apartments or student residence halls. Learn more about exploring Paris.
For the online sessions in June and July, participants will be able to study alongside other students from around the world and connect to an international community that transcends continents and even time zones! In 2020, more than 140 students from over 30 countries joined the online edition of the Summer School.
There will be a separate social and cultural programme for the online session and the on campus session. Both programmes will also include career workshops to help students prepare their professional skills for the workplace.
wherever you are, become part of SCIENCES PO’S INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY
Summer School students are part of an international community, representing over 70 nationalities and a diverse range of academic and professional backgrounds. Here’s what some of them had to say about the University Programme:
“The professors ask us questions all the time. I really love how they've planned the online classes. There are a lot of debates and interactions, which have been really, really good. For every topic, they bring fresh examples of current events from all over the world. I would just like to emphasize that I'm really impressed with the online system.” - Sofia, Brazil
“My classmates at the Summer School were very friendly and open-minded, and they came from all over the world. The multicultural ambiance was fantastic. The professors were nothing less than excellent, well-prepared and motivating. The French courses were always accompanied with very interesting topics drawn from current events or French culture. It was very enriching to debate these topics in class due to the vast diversity in perspectives given by international students.” - Begona, Italy & Mexico
“The Summer School is an amazing opportunity because you really learn a lot. Our classes are really fun and really open your mind. My classmates are amazing too! We all come from different cultures and backgrounds. The engagement of all these different people from different places around the world makes this a beautiful place to grow because we have so much to offer each other.” - Shamma, United Arab Emirates
“The social science courses I took were excellent. I gained a profound sense of knowledge regarding political science, while getting a well-rounded glimpse of university life. It was a very meaningful experience that I know will help me excel in the future. The Summer School actually helped me to select a college major! And aside from the academics, living in Paris for a month was a blast.” - Qin, China
