Meet the Graduates 2026: Anouk Fauré

I was introduced to gender studies during my bachelor’s degree, first through a course on gender sociology, and then during my exchange year at the University of Oslo, where I was able to explore what gender studies entails across various fields of social science (such as anthropology, international law, and political science). I quickly became fascinated by this field of study, and when I chose my master’s degree in human rights and humanitarian action, it was clear to me that gender studies should remain part of my journey. It provides the tools, concepts, and analytical frameworks essential for understanding the many issues and dynamics at the heart of these two fields that are human rights and humanitarian action.

One course that made a particular impression on me was the course on rapid gender analysis. It is a practical methodology, recognized and used globally by humanitarian actors to conduct gender analyses in emergency contexts, with the aim of implementing aid programs that meet the real needs of all affected populations, including groups that are often marginalized and/or excluded from decision-making spheres, such as women and gender minorities. It is the most concrete and practical gender-related class I had, and really gave me an idea of what could be my future career in this field ! 

For now, I have the great opportunity to continue my journey with the French Red Cross, where I work in the Restoring Family Links program, one of the Red Cross’s statutory missions. It aimed at providing guidance and support to help maintain or reestablish contact for families separated as a result of armed conflict, situations of violence, natural disasters, or other humanitarian situations. I feel super lucky to be part of this essential and meaningful program ! What happens next remains uncertain for now, but I am eager to continue working in this field to defend everyone’s fundamental rights and, if possible, to specialize in gender analysis in emergency situations.
