Gender has always been a topic that deeply interests me as I consider it an essential lens for imagining a more just world. The Advanced Certification gave me the opportunity to deepen that interest, engage with it academically, and strengthen the tools I hope to bring into different professional and social spaces.

Discrimination and Anti-Discrimination: Historical, Literary and Legal Interpretations, taught by Helena Alviar, was the course that left the strongest impression on me. I wasn't expecting gender to be such a central part of the class, but I'm very glad it was. The course approached gender through an intersectional lens and encouraged us to think about it across political, artistic, economic, and legal contexts, rather than only through theory. It also drew on the diversity of the classroom, making our discussions richer and showing how differently gender is experienced and understood.

I am currently doing an internship at UNESCO, where I have the opportunity to keep learning in an international environment. While I don't know exactly what comes next, I hope to continue working and contributing towards a more just society, one that places care and life at its center.
