Meet the Graduates 2026: Alexine El-Chami
What made you decide to pursue the Advanced Certification in Gender Studies alongside your Master's program?
The questions addressed by gender studies are, in my view, extremely relevant and important today. Pursuing this Certification was a key complement to my Master's studies, as it was essential for me to integrate a gender perspective into my learning at Sciences Po and to obtain formal recognition of this specialization alongside my degree.
Which course during your studies of gender-related topics made a particular impression on you, and why?
Shreya Parikh’s course Constructing and Contesting Gender in North Africa had a particularly strong impact on me. It was instrumental in helping me develop a more intersectional understanding of gender issues while grounding these reflections in a geographical area that I had not previously had the opportunity to study.
What is the next professional or academic chapter for you after the completion of your Master’s degree at Sciences Po?
At the moment, I am still exploring professional opportunities. However, the courses I took as part of the Certification confirmed my desire to work on gender and equality issues globally, and I hope to find a position that will allow me to contribute to these important topics.
