Meet the Graduates 2026: Aissatou Tagaty Badio

What made you decide to pursue the Advanced Certification in Gender Studies alongside your Master's program?

My goal was to build a career advising on gender-responsive policies and programming, particularly in African contexts. I pursued the certification to deepen my expertise in gender issues while gaining a formal qualification to be able to sharpen my gender expertise.

Which course during your studies of gender-related topics made a particular impression on you, and why?

Rapid Gender Analysis with Prof. Isadora Quay stood out to me because it combined practical experience with a methodology I had never worked with before, while providing a RGA certification in a skill that is highly relevant to gender programming in a humanitarian context. I particularly enjoyed the step-by-step course approach and practical exercises, which made the learning very hands-on.

What is the next professional or academic chapter for you after the completion of your Master's degree at Sciences Po?

I am moving to Dakar to take on a Senior Officer role at an African development advisory firm, while continuing to consult on gender programming. I also plan to launch a Substack exploring development and political issues in Africa through a gender lens.
