Certification in Gender Studies 2025: Graduate Testimonials

Each year, Sciences Po's Gender Studies Programme awards the Advanced Certification in Gender Studies to students who have demonstrated strong academic expertise in the field. In 2025, 34 students completed their master’s degree with this Certification. A few of them share key moments from their academic journey and their aspirations for the future.

I believe a gender lens should be applied to every human rights issue. I hope to pursue a career addressing social issues and promoting gender equality, and the Advanced Certification in Gender Studies has helped equip me with the tools and knowledge to do so!

When I wrote my Bachelor's thesis on conflict-related sexual violence, I felt a growing commitment to preventing gender-based violence and realised that I wanted to work in the gender, peace and security nexus.

The Advanced Certification in Gender Studies gave me the analytical tools to push for more inclusive, resilient public policies. Because integrating a gender perspective into climate and urban policies is not optional, it’s essential.

Valentina Cantor Lesmes, a recent graduate from the Master’s in Human Rights and Humanitarian Action

Growing up in Colombia, a country where social injustices are part of daily life for many people, and where armed conflict has mainly affected peasant, Afro-Colombian and Indigenous women and girls, allowed me to understand, from a very early age, that political solutions must go hand in hand with a gender analysis capable of comprehending the needs of an entire community.

Audrey Rouhier, jeune diplômée du master International Business and Sustainability à l’École du management et de l’impact de Sciences Po

Imagining that one day I would have a role to play in gender equality in the workplace, I decided to learn more about these issues by taking various courses in gender studies.
