Sciences Po’s seven schools welcome graduate students from all over the world. Our graduate programmes provide students with both an in-depth academic background in the social sciences and hands-on experience of the professional field they aim to work in.
Discover the School of Research
At the heart of knowledge creation and dissemination, The School of Research, one of Sciences Po’s eight graduate schools, brings together all Sciences Po’s research degrees under one roof. We offer Master’s and PhD programmes that equip students with the concepts, analytical techniques, and methods of social science research.Underpinned by a faculty of 200 academics with highly international backgrounds, our programmes are structured around Sciences Po’s five main disciplines: law, economics, history, political science, and sociology.
The School of Research Master's Programme

The School of Research Master’s programme is structured around four central academic disciplines that form the core of Sciences Po's intellectual scope: economics, history, political science and sociology.
Master's degree in Economics
Taught entirely in English, this programme is intended for students who wish to acquire quantitative, technical and practical skills in economics. It paves the way for students to continue with doctoral studies, either at Sciences Po or at another of the world's leading universities.

Master's degree in History
This programme consists of mandatory and optional courses and workshops, including political history, international and transnational history, gender history, the history of institutions, digital history, democracy, and more. It also provides individual tutoring and additional language courses.

Master’s degree in Political Science
The programme is aimed at students interested in pursuing careers as experts in international public or private organisations, diplomacy, or looking to sit general competitive entrance exams to enter the international or European civil service. Students have a choice of five streams: Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Behaviour, Political Theory, Public Policy and a Political Science general track in English.

Master's degree in Sociology
This program, taught in English and/or French, trains sociologists for careers in academia, research, evaluation, and change management in large public and private organizations, the non-profit sector, NGOs, consulting firms, and local governments. It draws on the expertise of some sixty sociologists from the sociology department of Sciences Po to offer high-level theoretical, methodological and practical training with a strong international focus on a wide range of topics.
The master's dual degree programmes
Dual Degree in Economics and Quantitative Economics with Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne.
This programme offers a combination of courses in economics and applied mathematics with courses in economics applied to the social sciences (public policy, micro and macroeconomics, environmental and educational policy, etc.).

Sciences Po - École du Louvre
This programme combines the complementary expertise of both institutions: Sciences Po's training in humanities and social sciences and the École du Louvre's training in art history and museology.

Sciences Po - King’s College London
Double degree in global/international history. This programme aims to provide students with a solid grounding in global and international history, combining theory, methodology, historiography and research methods. This selective programme, which covers a wide range of subjects taught at both institutions, will enable students to acquire a solid knowledge of global/international history, combining theory, methodology, historiography and research methods.

The School of Research Phds
The School of Research offers five doctoral programmes in law, economics, history, political science and sociology. PhD students benefit from support from internationally renowned thesis supervisors and personalised guidance within Sciences Po's research centres. PhD graduates are also prepared for entry into the job market.
Doctorate in Law
The Doctorate in Law is intended for students who wish to make a significant theoretical contribution to the understanding of legal phenomena in a given field of law. As legal theorists, students are open to multidisciplinary approaches and to the diversity of legal cultures.

Doctorate in Economics
The Doctorate in Economics, which is based at Sciences Po's Department of Economics, is one of the best programmes of its kind in Europe, as evidenced by the recent recruitment of our graduates by leading international universities (UCLA, ENS Paris, HEC Paris, Carlos III).

Doctorate in History
The Doctorate in History offers excellent theoretical and methodological training, with specialised courses providing in-depth knowledge of specific fields and subjects: various historical specialisations; cutting-edge research topics; methods (statistics, image, oral history, archives).

Doctorate in Political Science
The Doctorate in Political Science develops research and critical analysis skills. It is divided into three specialisations: Comparative Politics, International Relations, and Political Theory.

Doctorate in Sociology
The Doctorate in Sociology covers the fields of organisational sociology and the analysis of social change, economic sociology, the analysis of social inequalities and discrimination, urban sociology, the sociology of education, and the sociology of culture.
Where do our alumni work?
As a centre of teaching through and for research, the School of Research also provides extensive opportunities for its students to develop concrete practical skills. It promotes its graduates to recruiters of various professions across the public and the private sector.
