Master in Investigations, Analysis and Information Integrity

Disinformation campaigns, fake claims, propaganda, digital thread… These attacks on information undermine the fabric of our democracies, erode trust in electoral processes, and come at a massive economic and social cost.

Employers are recruiting information experts: analysts capable of handling information intelligence, sophisticated open-source investigation techniques and a deep understanding of geopolitical issues. The media, private companies, specialist consultancies and government departments are all seeking out these highly skilled professionals.

Launched by the Sciences Po School of Journalism in 2026, the Master in Investigations, Analysis and Information Integrity trains these ‘engineers of democracy’ with a unique set of skills.

The Master’s programme at a glance

Training the engineers of democracy

This two-year Master’s programme trains experts in risk analysis, online investigation and strategic monitoring. It is not recognised by the CPNEJ (National Joint Commission for the Employment of Journalists).

The programme focuses on teaching:

  • open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigation techniques;
  • an understanding of the dynamics of power and the dissemination of information;
  • cross-analysis of data and technology through ‘vibe coding’;
  • reasoned practices in artificial intelligence within a hybrid world;
  • techniques for identifying digital manipulation and interference;
  • defence strategies and informational countermeasures;
  • ethical and professional conduct;
  • the production and writing of reports, briefings, summaries and other formats.

At the crossroads of social utility and economic impact

The integrity of information is not just a matter for journalists. It is everyone’s concern.

Disinformation destroys value for private companies. It hinders the functioning of institutions. It prevents citizens from exercising their role in an informed manner.

Through this Master’s programme, future graduates are equipped to fulfil their social responsibility in the professional world. Jobs are being created to provide the media, businesses and institutions with professionals capable of identifying threats, detecting interference and countering information warfare.

What employers say

The Master’s programme was developed in close collaboration with employers and experts, from the media industry to private companies and public administrations, which chose Sciences Po as their partner of choice.

« The threat of online destabilisation no longer affects only our democracies. Now, businesses, leaders and institutions are also being targeted. Given the scale of the resulting risks, we need to gain a better understanding of these digital and information-related phenomena in order to provide a response that is both ethical and effective. That is the aim of this innovative programme. »

Marc-Antoine Brillant

Head of Department at VIGINUM

« This programme offers a rare opportunity to acquire highly sought-after skills at the intersection of several fields, from journalism to strategic analysis. It also allows participants to stand out by specialising in a rapidly growing sector. »

Marion Solletty

Chief Europe Correspondent at POLITICO, founder of the publication in France

« Our business is new information. With AI, you can compile open-source and draw conclusions quickly. We need people who can do that as well as go out and hit the pavement to talk to others. First-hand account becomes essential, and it has immense value to our clients. »

Marc Gustafson

Ex Head of the White House Situation Room

« The saying is well known. ‘To press the pen into the wound’—that, according to Albert Londres, is the journalist’s role. But when the wound becomes an attack on information itself, journalism must, by every means possible, combat false pretences and so-called ‘alternative facts’. The pen that is plunged into this ever-growing and increasingly covert threat cannot afford to be any less proficient in the arts of investigation and fact-checking. The new Master’s programme at Sciences Po’s School of Journalism has precisely this aim: to train students in the essential requirement of information integrity in a democracy. »

Hervé Brusini

President of the Albert Londres Prize

« The fight against disinformation is at the heart of our newsrooms’ daily concerns, and it is key to the trust we must build with our audience. It is invaluable to have young journalists trained in these issues. »

Philippe Corbé

Director of News at France Télévisions
