What is next for Palestinians? Internal debates vs. external demands
À propos de cet événement
Le 15 avril 2024 de 15:00 à 17:00
Presenter: Sanaa Al Sarghali, Associate Professor of Constitutional law, An-Najah National University (Palestine).
Discussant: Guillaume Tusseau, Professor, Sciences Po Law School.
This talk examines the complex dynamics between the international demands and internal aspirations for the future of Palestine. Amid the catastrophic situation in Gaza and the continued expansion of illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank, it questions the role and effectiveness of external voices in shaping Palestinian governance and what is left of the two-state solution within the 1967 borders.
The talk will also analyze the Palestinian Authority's (PA) role, reflecting on its limited autonomy under Israeli oversight and the recent push for its restructuring, including the appointment of a new Prime Minister. By examining these issues, the talk aims to explore the Palestinians' rightful place as architects of their political destiny and the complexities of achieving sovereignty amidst Israeli occupation, ongoing war and international intervention.
