Guest speakers: Marie Mercat-Bruns, Professor (Sciences Po Law School), and Christos Zois, PhD Candidate (Sciences Po Law School).
This session of the U-turnS Exploration series will focus on Judith Butler’s ‘Gender Trouble’ (1990). Butler’s book is perhaps one of the most influential critical writings regarding gender as a social construct and the relationship between identity, feminism, society, and dissonance. The event will try to ignite a discussion regarding the agency and performative nature of the (legal) subject existing within a gendered environment as well as the production and pitfalls of coalitions among subjects.
Venue: Room 410T (Sciences Po, 13 rue de l'Université, Paris 7ème) and online.
