The masters in political science with a major in political behavior is research training in the analysis of political behavior.

Objectives

It allows students to acquire the theoretical and methodological foundations to scientifically tackle issues related to the attitudes and behaviors of citizens, actors, and political elites, as well as many other questions pertaining to the analysis of political behavior. It offers students a training that covers various aspects of this field of research, such as the study of public opinion, electoral competition, and social movements.

This program enables the pursuit of a PhD and of academic careers, as well as careers in the private and public sectors that require expertise in politics and analytical skills.

Program structure 

The curriculum of this masters degree includes different types of courses:

  • Mandatory courses in quantitative and qualitative methods enabling the acquisition of key tools for social science research, as well as courses focusing on the research conception and process. 
  • Core curriculum courses shared by the different majors aiming to give students the foundations in other sub-disciplines in political science. 
  • Specialization courses. Some of these are mandatory, such as the ones on elections and public opinion that enable training in some of the fundamental areas of political behavior analysis. Others may be selected from course offerings on the analysis of political behavior, on related approaches and research subjects, and on research methods. Some of these courses are offered by other Schools within Sciences Po.
