À propos de cet événement

Le 16 mars 2023 de 12:30 à 14:00

>A seminar with Professeur Alexandre De Streel, Université de Namur.

The European Union has just adopted a series of new laws to regulate Big Tech platforms in order to increase innovation and reduce illegal and harmful content in the cyberspace. The Digital Markets Act contains a long list of do and don’t which will apply in March 2024 to the digital gatekeepers in order to make EU digital markets more contestable and fair.

Alexandre de Streel: "My draft paper discusses the new rules, their objectives and the indicators of success. Then, it shows that those rules are an important step for EU integration, which is moving towards an integration by institutions and not only by rules. Finally, I will discuss whether the DMA is just an act of hubris or whether it would have significant effects on the business models of the Big Tech platforms, and combined with technologies such as web 3, it would allow to regain the promises of a more decentralized cyberspace."

Invite-only event.
