Master in public policy: elective courses
The School of Public Affairs’ academic offering comprises different types of courses:
- Core courses shared by all students enrolled in the Master in Public Policy or core courses of the Master in European Affairs
- Core courses specific to each policy-stream
- Elective courses
Elective courses are small-group classes offered throughout the three teaching semesters of the Master in Public Policy and the Master in European Affairs. Depending on their policy-stream, students take between 3 and 6 elective courses over the course of their degree.
In Semesters 1 and 3, students are invited to choose elective courses from a range of thematic areas:
- Public Affairs
- International and European Affairs
- Culture
- Economics, Finance and Markets
- Ecological Transition
- Digital Transition
- Social, Health and Education Policies
- Security and Defence
Students may choose to explore fields, sectors or approaches to public policy with which they are not yet familiar, or deepen their knowledge of an issue or sector in which they seek to develop expertise.
In the second semester, students are invited to deepen their understanding of the issues specific to their policy stream.
