Teaching and researching internationally
The main function of the Sociology Department is to coordinate the various educational activities related to the discipline within Sciences Po. It reflects on the educational offerings at the University College (undegraduate program) and in the Schools (graduate programs), defines guidelines for teacher recruitment, and participates in career management. Its missions are carried out with consideration for the representativeness and balance of the various sub-sectors of the discipline.
Within the permanent faculty of Sciences Po, the
Sociology Department has more than 60 permanent members, including all statuses (Assistant, Associate, and Full Professors FNSP; FNSP Research Director; university professors; CNRS research fellows and directors).
With a strong team of teacher-researchers integrated into Sciences Po's research centers, it offers training in general sociology and both quantitative and qualitative methods, covering a wide range of fields of study. The department
relies mainly on four research centers : CRIS, CSO, médialab, and CEE, which are the preferred venues for training in research at the highest level. It develops collaborations and joint training programs within the community of partner universities and with other major universities in the social sciences.
