Biography
Carlo Barone, University Professor, has been serving as the Director of the Centre for Research on Social Inequalities (CRIS) since September 1, 2024. He is also affiliated with the LIEPP, where he contributes to the "Educational Policies" research axis. Furthermore, he is a member of the Scientific Council for Education and acts as the scientific correspondent for the IDEE program (Innovations, Data, and Experiments in Education).
His academic work focuses on several major themes. He explores social inequalities in education, analyzing the influence of family background, gender, and ethnicity. He also studies labor market outcomes related to education and examines its role in promoting social mobility from both dynamic and comparative perspectives. Additionally, his research includes experimental approaches to educational studies, particularly in evaluating policies and their impacts.
Carlo Barone has contributed to the validation of educational and occupational classifications used in comparative research on social stratification. His work is also rooted in sociological theory, where he integrates rational choice and behavioral approaches to better understand social phenomena. Through these diverse areas of expertise, he continues to advance knowledge on educational inequalities and their broader implications for society and public policy.
