A new step towards accessibility

In a ministerial decree published in the Journal officiel on 5 October 2024, the Sciences Po Library joined the list of organisations that benefit from the exception to copyright for the communication of documents adapted for people with disabilities. This is an important step towards making its services more inclusive.

The order authorises the Sciences Po Library to:

  1. Reproduce and adapt works: thanks to this authorisation, it can create and provide documents in accessible formats (digital or adapted) for users who are unable to read due to motor, sensory, cognitive or psychological limitations.
  2. Access the Platon platform: using this secure platform, provided by the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), the Library can obtain accessible digital files directly from publishers.

These services are available to the entire Sciences Po community, subject to certain conditions.

To access the adapted documents, users must provide :

  • An official document proving their disability or a sworn statement.
  • A signed user charter guaranteeing that the documents will be used for personal purposes only.
