Inter-library loan
This service allows to ask materials from another library (except Paris and the region) that are not in our collections.
The Sciences Po library participates in the Inter-library loan (ILL) system, a service which allows a network of French and foreign libraries to make and receive requests for materials (originals or photocopies) between member institutions.
Requesting materials
For members of the Sciences Po community (faculty, researchers, students, staff)
The Sciences Po library can make requests for:
- books, dissertations, and theses held in French (except in Paris and the Paris region) and foreign libraries.
- photocopies of periodical articles held in French and foreign libraries.
SUDOC, the “Système Universitaire de Documentation” catalogue, can be used locate the desired materials in the library collections of French universities and other institutions of higher education.

Readers are notified via e-mail or telephone when their materials are available.
This service is free (except for materials requested from the British Library : €27 per book / €8,5 for an extension / €17 per article).
Books, dissertations and theses:
- delivery time is 15 days on average
- loan periods vary and are set by the lending library.
Books from other libraries are for available for consultation by appointment only at Saint-Guillaume Library, 2nd floor.
Readers may use the loaned materials for private purposes only and may not reproduce them in full.
Providing materials
For requests from readers at other libraries
Readers at other French and foreign libraries may request books or photocopies of periodical articles held at the Sciences Po library.
Readers must submit their requests through their home libraries (university or municipal).
A fee is charged for this service (books, dissertations and theses).
Fees (per volume):
- France: €10 excl. tax
- European Union: €15 excl. tax (or 2 IFLA Vouchers)
- Non-European Union: €30 € excl. tax (or 4 IFLA Vouchers)
- Free for microforms
The loan period is 15 days or 1 month, depending on the materials requested. For onsite consultation only.
