Fabiola Conti, a graduate of Sciences Po's Master in Public Affairs program (MPA), took centre stage at the Social Outcomes Conference (SOC23) hosted by the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford last September. Her mission? To address the pressing issue of social washing and underscore the transformative potential of public procurement in shaping sustainable finance.

This marked the culmination of six months of intensive research, conducted alongside her MPA peers and in collaboration with academic tutor and Sciences Po teacher André Quadra, as well as public officials from the European Commission. Together, they embarked on a mission to standardise the measurement of Social Sustainability within the European Union, targeting the crucial problem of social washing within the EU impact investing market and procurement procedures.

Regarding the significance of this work, Conti stated, "It was a real honour to present this project at the University of Oxford. Alongside my colleagues, we are very proud of the results. Engaging with professionals of such high esteem not only validated our efforts but also demonstrated the critical significance of our work and its real-world relevance and impact."
