Research at Sciences Po: A Year in Review 2025

(credits: Sciences Po)

The year 2025 confirmed the dynamism and attractiveness of research at Sciences Po, with 19 new members joining the permanent faculty, including 11 women, across seven research centres. These recruitments span the main disciplines represented at Sciences Po – law, economics, history, political science and sociology – and reflect the renewal and diversity of the academic community.

The research conducted by these new faculty members focuses on a wide range of topics, including new algorithms, voting behaviour, comparative constitutional law, youth, gender and security, as well as major public policy issues such as employment, education, migration, the environment and housing. Their research also addresses poverty and the history of the Holocaust.

At the European level, seven projects were prepared and awarded to Sciences Po in 2025, for a total amount of more than €5.3 million. These include two ERC grants – a Consolidator Grant, led by Julia Cagé, Professor in the Department of Economics, and an Advanced Grant, led by Mirna Safi, Professor at the CRIS – as well as two Doctoral Networks and three Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships. These awards are complemented by two ERC Starting Grants, led by Diane Bolet, Assistant Professor recruited by the CEE in 2025, and Axelle Ferrière, CNRS Research Director affiliated with the Department of Economics.

In France, nine generic ANR projects led by members of our research centres were also selected during the past academic year, with a success rate nearly 50% higher than the national average.

This report highlights the excellence of research conducted at Sciences Po, its international reach, and its contribution to addressing the major challenges of our time.
