General job profile

Sciences Po is recruiting an experienced tenured professor (grade A).

The ideal candidate will be an academic figure recognised for their research work, their national and international influence, and their ability to engage with several social science disciplines. As a specialist in political philosophy, he or she must also have a broad and in-depth knowledge of the traditions of the humanities and social sciences and their methods, as well as the place they occupy in the formation of contemporary political thought. His or her work must also be notable for its ability to inform public debate on current social and political issues.

Fonctions

Research

The successful candidate will be attached to CEVIPOF, a multidisciplinary joint research unit (CNRS/Sciences Po) that has been deploying a wide range of theoretical and methodological resources for several decades. More specifically, they will be part of CEVIPOF's ‘Political Theories’ research cluster.2025 Sciences Po is recruiting a Full Professor in Political Science / Political Philosophy and Social Sciences

Teaching

Affiliated with the Department of Political Science, the successful candidate will provide 128 hours of teaching per year, equivalent to lectures (CM), which may be divided between three 24- hour lectures and 56 hours of CM of complementary teaching services.

This service must be completed within the three teaching cycles offered by Sciences Po: undergraduate, master's degree at one of the Sciences Po schools, and doctoral training. At least one of these courses must be taught at the undergraduate level at one of the regional campuses of the Sciences Po undergraduate college (Reims, Le Havre, Dijon, Nancy, Poitiers, Menton), depending on teaching needs. The successful candidate will teach basic and advanced courses in philosophy, political theory, social sciences and the history of ideas. The annual service is defined by the Political Science Department, in agreement with the Sciences Po Undergraduate Education Department. A good command of English is required and the ability to teach in this language is desirable.

Participation in the Research School, particularly through the supervision of Master's theses, doctoral theses and habilitations to supervise research (HDR), is also expected.

Two course syllabuses that could be taught at Master's level (one syllabus) and Bachelor's level (one syllabus) and, if possible, evaluations of the courses taught.
