Deprecription and perceptions – a mixed approach to understanding barriers and drivers (DEPREFLEX)

Project holders

Project description

The DEPREFLEX project (Deprescribing and REFLEXions on Barriers and Drivers) investigates the acceptability of deprescribing among healthcare professionals and patients. Combining semi-structured interviews and Discrete Choice Experiments (DCE), the project explores the role of behavioral, organizational and institutional factors—such as clinical, economic, and environmental framings—in shaping decision-making. Particular attention is paid to the impact of care organization. The project aims to co-develop a theory of change, empirically tested through a mixed-methods approach, to inform a realistic evaluation framework for public health interventions. Developed in close connection with a multidisciplinary stakeholder collective formed in 2024, DEPREFLEX is designed to deliver actionable evidence to support sustainable and acceptable prescribing policies.

This project is related to the LIEPP's research groups Health policies and Environmental policies.
