Biography

Matthias Brunn is a postdoctoral researcher at LIEPP and a psychiatrist. His research focuses on the comparative analysis of health care reforms, public mental health policies, and issues related to the sustainability of the health care system.

He currently co-coordinates the DEPREFLEX project, which analyzes the determinants of the acceptability of medication deprescribing from the perspective of healthcare professionals and patients. He also co-coordinates the “Decarbonising the healthcare system ” project and is developing research on sustainable psychiatry, eco-prescribing, and the role of psychotropic drugs in health policies.

In the field of mental health, he helps to foster a space for research and debate on public policies regarding psychiatry and psychotherapy, notably through the “Politiques de santé mentale” seminar. He was also part of the research team for the “Genesis of Medical School Admissions Reform” component of the REF-SANTE project.

After studying medicine, he earned a Ph.D. in political science from Paris-Saclay University, focusing on health reforms in France and Germany. He also teaches health policy at EHESP (École des hautes études en santé publique) and leads training sessions on health and mental health policies.
