Partnership with the Archives Nationales
The Contemporary History Archives and the Archives Nationales have a long-standing relationship, formalised in 1973 with a partnership agreement. The agreement stipulated that collections of political archives of national interest would be deposited at the Archives Nationales after being held for a certain period at the Contemporary History Archives for use in research leading to major symposia.
A new era began in 2014 with a broader partnership agreement. This agreement provides for:
- any public archives entering the archive collections at the Sciences Po Centre for History to be handed over to the Archives Nationales after fifteen years, under tripartite agreements signed between the donor, the Fondation nationale des sciences politiques (FNSP), and the Archives Nationales.
- closer academic relations, with two meetings a year between the two parties, and the establishment of a biennial seminar at the Archives Nationales in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine for students in their first year of the Sciences Po Master’s in History, to introduce them to the combined wealth of the two institutions’ collections on a given theme.
