Welcome sessions of the School of Research, academic year 2026/2027

The School of Research’s Opening Ceremony – Thursday 3 September 2026

The School of Research is delighted to welcome its new students at its opening ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 3 September from 10.30 am to 12.45 pm in the Jacques Chapsal amphitheatre (27 rue Saint-Guillaume).

This opening event will mark the official start of the academic year and will give students the opportunity to meet the teaching staff, learn about the School’s main areas of focus, and discuss their expectations of the programme.

The event will be attended by Dina Waked, Dean of the School of Research, Arnaud Dereggi, Executive Director, the Heads of Studies, and the entire team of the School of Research.

First-year Master’s programme orientation sessions from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm

Following the formal opening ceremony, the orientation sessions for each Master’s programme will be held at various locations across the campus:

Master’s in Economics led by Pierre-Philippe Combes – Room H405, 28 rue des Saints-Pères
Master’s in History led by David Todd – Room J208, 13 rue de l’Université
Master’s in Sociology led by Lidia Panico - Room J210, 13 rue de l’Université
Master’s in Political Science led by Thierry Balzacq – Jacques Chapsal Lecture Theatre (following the official opening ceremony)

Start-of-term meetings for Political Science specialisations

From 4.15 pm to 6 pm, students on the Master’s in Political Science will attend the start-of-term meetings for their specialisations in the following rooms:

Political Behaviour by Romain Lachat: Room 12 (27, rue Saint-Guillaume)
Comparative Politics by Laurence Louër and Caterina Froio: Room 15 (27, rue Saint-Guillaume)
Public Policy by Philippe Bezès: Room 21 (27, rue Saint-Guillaume)
Political Theory by Astrid von Busekist: Room 23 (27, rue Saint-Guillaume)
International Relations by Chiara Ruffa: Room 24 (27, rue Saint-Guillaume)
General Track in English by Colin Hay: Room 26 (27, rue Saint-Guillaume)

Start-of-term meeting for first-year PhD researchers

First-year PhD researchers are invited to a start-of-term meeting led by Dina Waked and Arnaud Dereggi, on Thursday 3 September from 2pm to 4pm, in Room E207, at 1, Place Saint Thomas d’Aquin (Building E, 2nd floor).

Welcome drinks in the garden

Following the start-of-term meetings, a welcome drinks reception will be held from 6.00 pm in the garden at 27 Rue Saint-Guillaume. A friendly occasion to continue discussions between students, lecturers and teaching staff.
