Maxence Dutilleul, PhD student at the CEE, welcomed to the LSE as part of a PhD exchange programme

Maxence Dutilleul, PhD Exchange Programme Sciences Po - LSE.

The School of Research is pleased to announce that Maxence Dutilleul, a doctoral student in political science at the Centre for European and Comparative Policy Studies (CEE), has been selected to participate in the Sciences Po - LSE doctoral exchange programme.

This partnership offers doctoral students from both institutions the opportunity to access new research resources (archives, networks and academic supervision), benefit from an international scientific environment and develop collaborations with researchers from the partner institution. During his stay at the London School of Economics, Maxence Dutilleul will participate in seminars, conferences and workshops while continuing his doctoral research for his thesis entitled ‘The Edge of Capital: A Comparative Historical Sociology of High Housing Costs in France, the United Kingdom and the United States,’ supervised by Patrick Le Galès and Philippe Bezès.

His research focuses on housing in economic policy (fiscal and monetary) from a historical and comparative perspective. It is structured around two main themes. On the one hand, he questions public inaction in the face of property inflation despite its growing impact on household purchasing power and inequality. Second, he studies the debates surrounding the economic status of owner-occupied housing: is it productive capital or consumer goods? Through an analysis of the controversies surrounding the valuation of housing assets, he highlights how these representations influence the formulation of economic policies and the construction of homeowners' interests.

The Sciences Po - LSE doctoral exchange programme supports the mobility of doctoral students in the social sciences, offering them not only academic support and access to the resources of the host institution, but also financial support of £2,500 to contribute to living expenses.
