Four young history researchers awarded CHEP 2026 research grants

The winners of the Centre for History and Economics in Paris (CHEP) Excellence Scholarship 2026

The School of Research extends its congratulations to Francesco Giosuè, Rébecca Mathiot, Giulio Piumelli and Aesa Virely, PhD researchers at the Centre d'histoire, winners of the 2026 research grant from the Centre for History and Economics - Paris (CHEP). This distinction recognises their research work and commitment to the field of economic history, from a multidisciplinary and international perspective.

Based at the Centre d'histoire de Sciences Po, the Centre for History and Economics in Paris (CHEP) is the result of a collaboration between Sciences Po and the Joint Centre for History and Economics at Harvard and Cambridge, which began in 2019. The Paris centre was officially established in 2022. It is part of an international research network aimed at strengthening dialogue between historians and economists on the study of economic phenomena over the long term.

CHEP encourages historical research on all aspects of economic life, combining disciplinary and methodological approaches. It regularly organises workshops and scientific meetings devoted to fundamental issues, including the relationship between economic history and environmental history, the use of legal and digital sources by historians and economists, and the history of economic ideas and sensibilities.

In line with this approach, CHEP is delighted to contribute, alongside the Cambridge and Harvard Centres, to the new programme ‘Economic History, Climate and Environment’. This programme builds on the work carried out within the network and aims to deepen the historical analysis of the interactions between economic dynamics, environmental transformations and climate issues.

By awarding this research grant, CHEP reaffirms its support for young researchers in history and its commitment to innovative, open and international research.
