The School of Research is delighted to announce that Constance Frohly, a PhD student in the Department of Economics, has been selected for the Fox International Fellowship at Yale University for the 2026–2027 academic year.

This prestigious fellowship, awarded by the Whitney and Betty MacMillan Center for International and Area Studies at Yale University, supports PhD students each year whose research contributes to the analysis of major contemporary issues in fields such as economics, politics, law, history and international relations.

As part of this, Constance Frohly will join Yale University as a Fox Fellow and Visiting Research Assistant, where she will continue her research in an international academic environment of excellence.

Her doctoral research, supervised by Emeric Henry and Pierre Cahuc, focuses on the determinants, mechanisms and consequences of French households’ educational choices in secondary education. She is particularly interested in the decisions made by families when their children enter secondary education and the information available to them regarding state and private schools when choosing a school for their children.

This distinction is a testament to the excellence of her academic career and the international scope of her research. Congratulations!

Biography

Constance Frohly has been a PhD student in economics since 2023. Her research falls within the field of the economics of education and analyses the school choices made by French households, particularly during the transition from primary to secondary education.

Through her thesis, entitled “Determinants, Mechanisms, and Consequences of Households’ School Choices: Evidence from French Households’ Decisions in Secondary Education”, she examines the factors influencing families’ decisions, the mechanisms at work in these choices, and their consequences for pupils’ educational trajectories.
