CIVICA: New Training Opportunities in Spring 2026

New courses for early stage researchers are available this semester through the CIVICA ESR Course Catalogue — a shared platform offering a wide range of training opportunities designed to support your development as a researcher and teacher.

For example, you may be interested in strengthening your academic writing skills by registering for courses offered by LSE, such as “Academic Writing: Introductions & Literature Reviews”, “Academic Writing: Writing as Conversation”, or “Editing Your Own Work”.

Several courses focus on research ethics, including “Ethics – Informed Consent” and “Ethics – Sensitive Interviews”. Others address specific research topics, such as “Judicial Populism in Comparative Perspective”, “(Non)violence”, or “The European Law of the Enemy”, offered by the EUI.

This semester, LSE is also offering wellbeing and professional development workshops, including “Managing Your Research: Time Management”, “Wellness Workshop: Overcoming Presentation Anxiety”, and “Managing Your Research: Managing Your Procrastination”

A series of courses aimed at strengthening teaching skills is offered this semester by CEU, including “Foundations of Teaching in Higher Education”, “Creating Your Teaching Portfolio”, and “Learning by Design”.  Please also note that courses labeled CTDP are part of the CIVICA Teacher Development Programme. Participants who complete at least 16 hours of coursework will be awarded a CIVICA certificate attesting to their teaching competences.

In addition, Hertie School of Governance offers a new edition of the “Python for Social Scientists” training, taught by Hertie PhD researcher Silke Kaiser. Please note that registration for this training is handled directly by the organizing university (please register here by 2 of February at noon)  The course will take place on 16 February  and 23 February, from 09:00am to 17:00pm on both days. Spots will be assigned on first-come first-served basis.
