Chronicles from the field: COP 30 in Belém, Brasil
On the occasion of COP 30, held this year in Belém in the heart of the Amazon, the CERI is offering a new series of field reports entitled ‘Chronicles from the field: COP 30 in Belém, Brazil’ devoted to the political, diplomatic and environmental dynamics at play in international climate negotiations.
To mark the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement and the thirtieth anniversary of the first climate conferences, this edition places particular emphasis on the central role of forests in the fight against global warming. PhD students Sarah Tegas and Matthew Winkler, both PhD students at CERI, and Sarah Thompson, a PhD student at the Free University of Brussels, share their observations, impressions and analyses from the field, offering valuable insights into the discussions, alliances and tensions that are often invisible from a distance.
