Call for applications for the PostGenAI@Paris 2025 doctoral contract

Context

Sciences Po has joined forces with Sorbonne University and around twenty other academic partners to form the PostGenAI@Paris cluster. This ambitious project aims to contribute to France's artificial intelligence strategy by creating an international center of excellence dedicated to AI. The project focuses on the theoretical and technical capabilities of AI and on positive, controlled, human-centered applications, particularly in three main areas:

  • Generative AI and disruptive technologies
  • Health and a desirable future
  • Resilient society and education

As part of this call for doctoral contracts, Sciences Po is looking for doctoral students working at the intersection of social sciences and artificial intelligence. This may include work on AI governance, its history, the development of new methods in the social sciences, work on the transformations of society under the influence of AI (work, culture, information, etc.), inequalities and discrimination in relation to artificial intelligence systems, AI regulation, etc.

Funded contract

A doctoral contract at Sciences Po will be funded through the cluster. Artificial intelligence must be central to the thesis topic. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged, but the thesis must fall within one of the five doctoral programs offered at Sciences Po: law, economics, history, political science, or sociology. The doctoral student will be hosted in one of Sciences Po's ten research centers. The successful candidate will be offered a full-time contract for a period of 36 months. They will also receive appropriate training within this structure and at the Sciences Po School of Research.

The contract start date is September 2026.
