Anne Moyal has been awarded the Grand Prix de la Protection Sociale for her book "Réguler sans contraindre"

The School of Research extends its warmest congratulations to Anne Moyal, winner of the Grand Prix de la Protection Sociale, awarded by EN3S and the Caisse des Dépôts Group, for her book Regulating without Restricting: The State and Doctors Facing Medical Deserts.
Based on a thesis at the CSO completed with the support of LIEPP, this book offers an in-depth analysis of the public policies implemented since the 2000s to tackle medical deserts. Drawing on a particularly rich field study, Anne Moyal highlights the role of multi-professional health centres and demonstrates how schemes based on incentives rather than coercion are bringing about lasting change to the practice of general medicine and to relations between the State and doctors.
Anne Moyal, who holds a PhD in sociology, was a PhD researcher at the CSO and LIEPP from 2015 to 2020. In March 2021, under the supervision of Henri Bergeron, she defended a thesis entitled ‘Une liberté sous contraintes ? Rationalisation of the practices of private primary care professionals in multi-professional health centres in France. She is currently continuing her research into the transformations of general practice and primary care in France as a lecturer and researcher at EHESP.
