2026 News Tank-Emerging Ranking: Sciences Po Takes First Place in Its Category

Ranking News Tank-Emerging 2026, Sciences Po #1, Universities & Political Studies Institutes Category, Criteria: graduate employability and corporate cooperation.

Sciences Po has topped the 2026 News Tank-Emerging rankings, a distinction that confirms the professional recognition of the quality of our programmes, the relevance of our teaching content and the strength of our ties with the socio-economic world.

A ranking based on the feedback of 1,000+ professionals

The ranking is based exclusively on the assessments of over 1,000 professionals, recruiters, and managers, who were asked to evaluate institutions according to two key criteria: employability (the ability of graduates to meet the needs of a rapidly changing labour market) and cooperation with businesses (the quality of partnerships and the alignment of teaching content with the expectations of the business world).

"Companies are now looking for candidates capable of analysing, learning, and adapting on-the-job."

Sandrine Belloc, Director of Emerging

This requirement is entirely in line with Sciences Po’s ambition: shaping individuals capable of understanding major contemporary shifts, anticipating the unexpected, and acting with discernment.

Alongside two major French institutions, HEC and École Polytechnique, which were recognised in their respective categories (business schools and engineering schools), Sciences Po is delighted with this award, which honours its ongoing commitment to student employability and supporting students towards high-impact careers.

A robust and proven methodology

Since 2010, Emerging has produced the GEURS (Global Employability University Ranking and Survey), published exclusively by Times Higher Education. The News Tank-Emerging Ranking follow the same approach of providing a detailed analysis of employers’ expectations.

The 2026 edition is based on a survey of 1,080 French professionals with significant experience in recruiting and managing recent graduates. 90 institutions were assessed this year.

The experts assessed the institutions according to two main criteria:

  • Graduate employability (40% of the score): quality of student profiles, reputation of the institution, alignment of acquired skills with market needs;
  • Cooperation with businesses (60% of the score): quality and diversity of partnerships, methods of collaboration, governance, regional roots, relevance of teaching content, visibility.

Compared to the first edition, Emerging sought to delve deeper into the concept of collaboration, in order to better understand what underpins the perception of an effective partnership between institutions and businesses. This methodological development further enhances the significance of this ranking.

Sciences Po is also third in the world in Politics according to the 2026 QS Rankings

The 2026 QS World University Rankings also places Sciences Po as one of the world’s leading institutions in political science, confirming its academic excellence.
