Biography
Gabriel Pourre is a PhD student in political science, specializing in International relations, at the CERI with the support of the French Ministry of Defense. Under the supervision of Ariel Colonomos, he works on the United States nuclear strategy and its control by the Law of Armed Conflict. Through an international political theory approach, he explores ways to interpret the laws of war in preparation for the potential use of the US nuclear arsenal. It leads him to analyze how nuclear employment strategy bargains with other aspects of nuclear policy (deterrence, escalation management, arms control). He also considers the history of the moral controversy surrounding nuclear weapons. He holds degrees in political science and international relations from Sciences Po Paris (M.A. and B.A.).
His research Master thesis was awarded the 2024 scientific prize of the Association pour les Études sur la Guerre et la Stratégie (AEGES).
