Raffaele Bazurli was born in Gubbio (Italy, 1989). Since November 2015, he is a PhD candidate in Political Science and Sociology at the Scuola Normale Superiore, Florence, under the supervision of prof. Donatella della Porta. He is also member of the Centre on Social Movement Studies (COSMOS) and currently visiting period at the Institute of Government and Public Policy (IGOP) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (February-July 2018).

He mainly works at the intersection between public policy and social movement studies, adopting both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. His PhD dissertation concerns migration policy, as well as social movements by, in solidarity with, and against migrants – especially in the context of South European cities. He earned a BSc and MSc (cum laude) at Bocconi University, Milan, also spending a semester at the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin.
