1. Research

Maureen Clappe is a Phd student at Sciences Po Grenoble and the University of Grenoble Alpes within the PACTE laboratory. She joined Sciences Po this year as teaching assistant (ATER) (2021-2022).

Her thesis in political sociology, entitled “The two bodies of the interpreter. Sociology of interpreting in asylum policies in France” focuses on asylum interpreters and their role as intermediaries in the implementation of asylum policies. She’s interested, onthe one hand, in the way in which these groups are put to work by the institutions that call on them on a voluntary or salaried basis and, on the other hand, in the place occupied by them in the redefinition of policies concerning them. Maureen Clappe is also a fellow of the Convergences Migrations Institute, within the Policy team, where she develops research on work and migration, new public/private hybrids and contemporary transformations of the state.
