In the virtual arena of the 21st century comes a new series of threats to individuals - cyberstalking, doxxing, image-based sexual abuse, and more. Physical access no longer being an obstacle, perpetrators are able to follow their victims wherever they go. Addressing these rising threats of digitalised gender-based violence is a daunting task, but one that needs to be done collaboratively. Institutions like the UN and the EU have made tackling gender-based cyberviolence a priority for 2023, but how is cybersexism concretely tackled ?

This conference aims to alert on the increasingly prevalent issues of cybersexism and cyberviolence: the extent to which they can be a threat to women's rights, human rights and our democraties, and how social media platforms and States are working to respond to them.

With perspectives from activism and academia to law and public policy, this conference will provide a multidimensional understanding of the new age of sexism we find ourselves in and, hopefully, feel better equipped on how to combat it.
