Project Description

The Jet Cities project aims at accelerating the transformation of the economy, employment policies and professional integration to support the green transition and achieve climate neutrality by 2030. This 18 months project (funded by NetZeroCities under the « HORIZON-RIA-SGA-NZC-101121530 » and led by the City of Marseille) brings together five French cities and metropolitan authorities – Marseille, Lyon, Paris, Grenoble Alpes Métropole and Dijon Métropole - . As part of their commitment to achieve a just transition towards carbon neutrality, they have singled out the transformation of the workforce and the professional integration of the most vulnerable groups of the population as key priorities.

As part of the JET Cities project, the cities seek to:

  1. establish key knowledge and foundations for designing efficient public economic, employment and integration policies;
  2. experiment with various approaches to promote green jobs and strengthen public support tools for professional integration;
  3. promote the dissemination of key policy recommendations to other local authorities in France and in Europe.

As an academic partner, LIEPP examines urban / metropolitan policies and strategies aimed at stimulating green jobs, first by drawing on an interdisciplinary literature review and public policy debates; and second, by providing rigorous research input (data collection, original dataset, individual and group interviews) and analysis. In addition, it applies a monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework, to support cities in delivering their policy and operational objectives at project level and to inform European/national/regional policy debates about the role of cities in the field of employment and integration policies to support the green transition.

This project works in close connection with the SET (Social-Ecological Transitions) Initiative
