In March, LIEPP welcomes two visiting researchers

LIEPP is pleased to welcome two international researchers who are winners of its International Scholars in Policy Evaluation program in March 2026: Elizabeth Korver-Glenn (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and Sonja Avlijas (University of Belgrade).

Elizabeth Korver-Glen

(Assistant Professor of Sociology, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill)
Visit period: March 8–April 8, 2026

She studies, writes, teaches, and speaks on a wide range of topics, most of which are related in some way to racism, white supremacy, markets, or urban/neighborhood inequalities. All of this is motivated by a single goal: to achieve justice. She will contribute to the work of the Discrimination and Categorical Policies research group.

Elizabeth Korver-Glen will hold the seminar Evaluating Integration vs. Immigrant-Oriented Immigration Policy on March 1, 2026.

Sonja Avlijas

(Assistant Professor in Economic Policy and Development, University of Belgrade, CERGE-EI Foundation Career Integration Fellow (2024-2027))
Visit period: March 21–April 26, 2026

Dr. Avlijaš's research interests focus on two main areas: 1) innovation and development in semi-peripheral regions, particularly the role of small and medium-sized enterprises as agents of innovation; and 2) growth and development in semi-peripheral regions of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, with a focus on the gender implications of these processes and their links to welfare state reforms. She has also conducted research on welfare states and growth regimes in Western democracies, as well as on the epistemological foundations of knowledge production in the semi-periphery. Sonja Avlijas will contribute to the work of the Socio-Fiscal Policies research group.

She will hold the seminar Innovation Policy and Employment Quality: Evaluating the Governance of Labour Demand in Catch-Up Economies on March 24, 2026.
