Catherine Verniers is a lecturer in social psychology at the Université Paris Cité (Laboratoire de Psychologie Sociale-LPS). Her work focuses on the psychosocial processes at work in the perpetuation of social inequalities. She is particularly interested in the motivational factors (i.e., motivation to justify the system) and ideologies (e.g., gender stereotypes, meritocracy, intensive mothering, pronatalism) involved in the emergence and legitimization of gender hierarchies. She favors a mixed quantitative (especially experimental) and qualitative methodology in her research.
