Projects in Administrative History
How, at the beginning of the 21st century, do we write the history of 20th-century administrations? Since 2017, the EHESS “political history of public administration” chair has been exploring “projects in administrative history” in an intermediate format of eight three-hour sessions. This length allows us to combine the advantages of the traditional seminar (presentation of current research, recent publications, etc.) with more time for critical or methodological perspectives. As such, the seminar also serves a forum for discussion with practitioners, whether civil servants, political leaders, or nonprofit or trade union activists. The sessions cover both the contemporary evolution of administration and the new disciplinary or interdisciplinary approaches with which to grasp it.
Projects in Administrative History is a joint EHESS/CHSP seminar.
