Biography
My research focuses on Islam in France and the educational strategies of marginalised groups. It is structured around three main areas:
- ethnographic study of private Muslim education in France
- opening up the black box of religious socialisation in childhood
- analysis of public policies on private education, both state-funded and independent
Through ethnographic fieldwork, family case studies and statistical data analysis, this research explores the ways of being and doing of people who identify as Muslim, particularly in the field of education. By deploying an analysis that considers the articulation of social relations of class, race, religion and gender, this work sheds light on the processes that shape inequalities.
Since September 2023, I have been a member of the ANR project called "Islamic socialisation. Transmission and incorporation of religious knowledge in a minority context", led by Margot Dazey and Karim Souanef (Université de Lille).
