Jens Carstens

PhD candidate


Jens Carstens is a PhD student in Political Science at Sciences Po’s Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics since 2021. His research project, under the supervision of Jan Rovny, will investigate, from a comparative regional perspective, the drivers of discontent and distrust in political institutions in the European Union in particular following the Global Financial Crisis.

Jens Carstens has obtained his Master’s degree in Global Political Economy from Stockholm University and his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Business Administration from University of Mannheim. Before joining Sciences Po, he has worked as Graduate Trainee at the EU agency Eurofound in Dublin, where he contributed to policy-oriented research on social cohesion and convergence in the EU.
