LES SCIENCES SOCIALES EN QUESTION : GRANDES CONTROVERSES ÉPISTÉMOLOGIQUES ET MÉTHODOLOGIQUES
co-organisé avec le CERI, Sciences Po
Sciences Po, 28 rue des Saint Pères, 75007 Paris
Field experiments are commonly used to measure discrimination in non-interactional situations. A host of correspondence studies (testings) examine differences in callback rates to job applications according to the origin or religion of the applicant. But they rarely consider discrimination in everyday social interactions, despite the psychological distress it is known to generate. Martin Aranguren picked up the challenge. He presents a large-scale field experiment that he recently conducted in the streets of Paris on racial discrimination in helping passers-by. His research is discussed by Morgane Laouenan and Achim Edelmann.
