Current Research
Annis Ghemires’ research focuses on the formation, in France and the United States, of groups of staff assisting members of Parliament and members of Congress in their legislative functions. His work examines the development of these professional categories, their trajectories and practices, as well as the division of labor, hierarchies, and rivalries that structure their interactions. Through this lens, his research contributes to a broader understanding of the institutionalization of legislatures and the rationalization of political work at the central levels of both political systems.
Thesis topic
His PhD thesis, « Dans l’ombre des Parlements. Sociogenèses des collaborateurs parlementaires et de leurs mobilisations en France et aux Etats-Unis » focused on a comparative study of parliamentary staff at the French National Assembly and the US House of Representatives, with particular attention to their collective mobilisations.
