The arts at Sciences Po

Student associations with a strong focus on the arts

Le Bureau des Arts or BdA [Arts Bureau] is the slightly off-beat association that coordinates the cultural side of life at Sciences Po. Along with many traditional events (Journée Dédicaces [Signing days] Semaine des Arts [Arts Week]) and more recent events (Cafés Concerts [Coffeehouse Concerts], etc.), the BdA offers many classes (2 credits) every semester (theatre, script-writing, vocal technique, etc.), sells inexpensive tickets for shows at prestigious Paris theatres (Opéra de Paris, Comédie Française, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, etc.), hosts regularly-scheduled workshops and clubs for true enthusiasts or curious on-lookers (Photography, Literature, Cinema, Sciences Po Choir and Orchestra), organises competitions with many great prizes (including passes for the Cannes Film Festival) and throughout the year provides information on how to make culture an integral part of your life.

For more information, or if you have any suggestions, questions or ideas to propose, stop by our office at 56 rue des Saint Pères, check out our website or e-mail us at contact@bdarts.org

Sports at Sciences Po

A dynamic association offering a wide range of sports activities

Sciences Po’s Association Sportive [AS - Sports Association] is one of France’s most important student associations, mustering more than 2,000 members every semester. It has the status of permanent association and is recognized by the management team of Sciences Po.

Made up of about 20 volunteers from every year, the AS takes part in several operations throughout the year. It:

  • manages close on 40 different sports and 130 hours of classes a week, enabling students to practice sports in Paris, at low cost, with other students from the school.
  • coordinates Sciences Po’s participation in FFSU University competitions.
  • participates in the Inter-IEP Criterium, which every year brings together over 3,000 political science students. The 2011 Criterium will take place in Paris and will be organized by the Association Sportive.
  • participates in the Mini-Crit, an artistic and sport competition, which brings together all of Science Po Paris’s satellites, as well as the Paris Campus’ first year students.
  • helps organize the Eurocup, a European university competition which takes place every year in Paris at the time of the Festival of Europe.
  • participates in competitions organized by other grandes écoles or French and European Universities, such as the EDHEC Regatta, the 4L Trophy or the Barcelona Tournament.
  • organizes student parties, skiing holidays and events on the Paris campus.
