Share/Bookmark Share

Sciences Po is enrolling a record number of applicants in first year undergraduate programme - 4,750 in 2010, up from 3,050 in 2009. On average, one applicant in 10 is admitted. Once admitted to Sciences Po, the student is required to pay tuition.Tuition is determined on a sliding scale according to family income.

The sliding scale breaks down into 11 categories:

  • from 0 to  € 9,300 for undergraduates;
  • from 0 to € 13,000 for students admitted to the Masters programme in 2010-2011.

and accompanied by enhanced financial aid.

The sliding scale tuition system has made it possible to substantially enhance the financial aid system at Sciences Po:

  • French students: a scholarship student admitted to Sciences Po in 2010 is not only exempted from tuition but receives a scholarship supplement from Sciences Po amounting to 75% of the amount of his or her Crous scholarship.
  • European Union students meeting the same means criteria may receive scholarships from Sciences Po in the same amount as French students in their first year of studies.
  • Non-European Union students who do not have a European Union tax certificate may qualify for an Emile Boutmy scholarship awarded by Sciences Po.

The goal is 30% scholarship students by 2012

This pro-active policy fosters social diversity at Sciences Po. The goal is 30% scholarship students by 2012. Across the entire undergraduate student body (including non-eligible students), Sciences Po has 21% Crous scholarship students. Among eligible French students and European students, the proportion is 22%. This figure increases to 26% for students coming from the French education system.
